COAS LAUDS TINUBU’S SUPPORT AS NIGERIAN ARMY OPENS SENIOR COMMAND/LEADERSHIP SEMINAR IN PORT HARCHORT

The Chief of Army Staff, Waidi Shaibu, has expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his consistent and unwavering support to the Nigerian Army, noting that the President’s interventions have significantly contributed to recent operational successes in safeguarding Nigeria’s security and territorial integrity.

This commendation was delivered at the opening ceremony of the First Senior Command and Leadership Seminar 2026 held at the Python Officers’ Mess, Headquarters 6 Division, Nigerian Army in Port Harcourt.

The COAS, who was represented at the event by the Commander, Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Peter Malla, described the seminar’s theme; “Strategic Leadership for Effective Command in an Evolving Security Environment,” as timely and relevant.

He noted that it aligns with the Army’s command philosophy and is designed to deepen strategic thinking, improve operational judgement, and strengthen leadership effectiveness among senior officers.

According to him, the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to enhance professional military leadership and ensure commanders are better equipped to respond to Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.

The Chief of Training, Nigerian Army, Valentine Okoro, also described the seminar as a significant milestone in strengthening the intellectual, professional, and leadership capacity of the Army. He emphasized the importance of continuous learning and strategic capacity building within the force.

In his remarks, the General Officer Commanding 6 Division, Emmanuel Eric Emekah, who hosted the event, urged participants to fully engage with the training.

He stressed that the evolving security environment demands innovation, adaptability, and decisive leadership from senior commanders.

The event brought together senior military officers to enhance leadership competence and operational effectiveness across formations.
