Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has paid glowing tribute to the late Rev. Friday Willie Umoren, describing him as a devoted servant of God who lived a life of impact and unwavering faith.

Governor Eno spoke at the funeral service held in honour of the late cleric at the United Evangelical Church, Ikot Akpa Idem, in Ukanafun Local Government Area.

The Governor thanked God for the life of Rev. Umoren, noting that divine grace enabled him to live with vision, focus, and purpose. He recalled his personal encounters with the deceased, describing him as a man of discipline, neatness, and exemplary character.

According to the Governor, the late Rev. Umoren left lasting impressions on those who came in contact with him, urging Christians and members of the bereaved family to emulate his virtues.

He also appreciated the spiritual support he received from the late cleric, particularly during the build-up to the 2023 governorship election.

“He was always praying for me, giving me strong assurance of victory, and it truly came to pass,” Governor Eno said.

The Governor stated that the gathering was not only to mourn but to celebrate a life well lived, adding that the late clergyman’s legacy stands as a testament to the rewards of faithful service to God.

Quoting the Apostle Paul, he expressed confidence that the deceased had completed his earthly race and received his eternal reward.

“This is a man who can boldly say, ‘I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.’ We believe he has received his crown of righteousness,” he added.

Governor Eno urged the family to take solace in the impactful life their patriarch lived, noting that service to God remains the greatest legacy.

Delivering the sermon titled “How to Honour God” from Ecclesiastes 6:1–3, the Chairman of the Conference of the United Evangelical Church, Rev. Daniel Anjorin, emphasised the need for believers to seek God wholeheartedly and shun evil.

He urged Christians to reflect God’s character, embrace salvation, and commit themselves to serving both God and humanity in order to attract divine blessings.
