Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, says the marine and blue economy is critical to the successful implementation of his administration’s ARISE Agenda.
Represented by Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, at the 2026 Second Quarter Stakeholders’ Engagement on the National Policy on Marine and Blue Economy in Lagos, Governor Eno said the state would leverage its vast maritime resources to create wealth and boost economic development.
He highlighted ongoing investments, including the Oron Beach maritime infrastructure, acquisition of passenger ferries for the Oron-Calabar waterway, the establishment of the Ministry of Internal Security and Waterways, and renewed efforts to actualise the Ibom Deep Seaport project.
Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Dr Adegboyega Oyetola, called on sub-national governments to support the implementation of the National Policy on Marine and Blue Economy to unlock the sector’s economic potential.
