Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has assured companies operating in the state of his administration’s continued support, pledging improved security, infrastructure and a business environment conducive to investment.

Fubara said Rivers remained a safe and suitable destination for energy investments, assuring investors that the state government would continue to provide the necessary support to enable businesses to operate, expand and contribute to the state’s economic development.

The governor spoke at an Independence Day event organised by Renaissance Africa Energy Company to commemorate Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.

Represented at the event by his Chief of Staff, Sonny Ewule, Fubara said his administration recognised the importance of private-sector investment to the growth and development of Rivers State.

He assured companies operating in the state that the government would continue working to strengthen security, improve infrastructure and create an environment that encourages businesses to invest and expand their operations.

Fubara maintained that Rivers State remained strategically positioned for energy-related investments, given its importance to Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.

He said the government was committed to supporting investors while ensuring that their operations contribute meaningfully to the state and its people.

Speaking further, Fubara described Renaissance Africa Energy Company as an important partner in the development of Rivers State.

He commended the company for choosing Rivers as the venue for its Independence Day celebration, describing the decision as an indication of its connection with the state and its people.

The governor said the government would continue to encourage partnerships between the public and private sectors as part of efforts to drive economic growth and create opportunities for residents.

He also urged Renaissance Africa Energy to deepen its contribution to communities where it operates and ensure that its activities have a positive impact beyond its core business operations.

Fubara called on the company to intensify efforts to protect the environment in the Niger Delta, stressing the importance of responsible operations in a region that has hosted critical energy activities for decades and where environmental concerns remain an important issue for communities.

He urged the company to ensure that its operations were conducted in ways that protect the environment and promote sustainable development.

The governor also called for greater attention to the welfare of local contractors engaged by the company.

According to Fubara, Rivers-based contractors should be paid promptly for services rendered, noting that timely payments would help sustain local businesses and support economic activity within the state.

The governor further urged Renaissance Africa Energy to expand its skills development programmes for young people in Rivers State.

He said providing young people with relevant technical and vocational skills would improve their opportunities for employment and participation in the energy sector.

Fubara encouraged the company to strengthen training initiatives that would equip youths with skills relevant to the demands of the modern energy industry.

The governor said stronger collaboration between the government and companies operating in the state could create wider opportunities for residents while supporting sustainable economic development.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to maintaining a business-friendly environment in Rivers State and encouraged investors to continue to see the state as a destination for productive and long-term investments.
