Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has mobilised Julius Berger Nigeria Plc to carry out emergency remedial works on a collapsed section of the East-West Road at Agbarho in Ughelli North Local Government Area.
The affected section of the highway reportedly collapsed following torrential rainfall, disrupting traffic and creating difficulties for motorists and commuters using the busy corridor.
The governor said he had directed Julius Berger to inspect the damaged portion and take immediate steps towards restoring the road.
Oborevwori announced the intervention on Thursday while addressing residents at the Cenotaph in Asaba during activities marking Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.

“A few days ago in Agba, you people witnessed a natural disaster that happened on the East-West Road. I’ve directed Julius Berger to go and see how to fix that road as soon as possible,” Oborevwori said.
Following the directive, the construction company mobilised personnel and equipment to the affected section for emergency restoration works.
The damage, attributed to heavy rainfall, affected vehicular movement along the route and raised safety concerns among residents and road users.
The intervention is aimed at restoring access along the affected section and reducing the difficulties experienced by motorists and commuters.
The East-West Road is a major transportation corridor linking communities and commercial centres across the Niger Delta, making the restoration of the damaged section important to the movement of people, goods and services in the region.
