The Lagos State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), in collaboration with Leadway Assurance, has organised a motor park rally at Ojota (Biode) Motor Park aimed at promoting road safety awareness among commercial drivers and transport stakeholders.

The sensitisation campaign, tagged “Drive Safe, Arrive Alive,” focused on educating drivers, passengers, and transport operators on the importance of proper vehicle maintenance, valid documentation, and strict compliance with traffic regulations as key measures for preventing road crashes.

Speaking during the engagement, the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Kehinde G. Hamzat, highlighted major causes of road traffic crashes, including speeding, dangerous overtaking, drunk driving, overloading, driver fatigue, and the use of worn-out tyres.

Hamzat urged commercial drivers to prioritise safety at all times, stressing that adherence to traffic rules and regular vehicle checks could significantly reduce accidents on Nigerian roads.

The programme also featured a vehicle safety simulation exercise and interactive sessions designed to enhance drivers’ understanding of safe driving practices. Compliant drivers were rewarded with souvenirs as part of efforts to encourage responsible road use.

Representatives of Leadway Assurance also enlightened participants on the importance of vehicle insurance and effective risk management in ensuring safer roads and protecting lives and property.

The organisers noted that the initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen road safety consciousness and reduce traffic-related fatalities across Lagos State.
