The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Ola Olukoyede, has called on students and teachers across Nigeria to uphold integrity and strong moral values, stressing that no nation can thrive without a disciplined and responsible youth population.
Olukoyede made the charge on Friday, June 5, 2025, during an educational visit by students and teachers of Springfield Schools, Port Harcourt, to the EFCC Zonal Directorate in Rivers State.
The visit was aimed at exposing participants to the mandate and operational strategies of the Commission in combating corruption and financial crimes.

Speaking through the Acting Zonal Director of the EFCC Port Harcourt Directorate, Assistant Commander of the EFCC (ACE 1), Hassan Saidu, the EFCC Chairman emphasised the central role of young people in national development.
“There is no country that can sustain itself without the youths. Even countries like Germany are expressing concern over declining youth population,” he said.
He also commended teachers for their role in shaping the character and future of young Nigerians, describing them as critical partners in nation-building.
The Head of Public Affairs, Port Harcourt Directorate, Superintendent of the EFCC, SE Akpos Mezeh-Ekisowei, highlighted the Commission’s preventive mandate, noting that prevention remains a more effective and sustainable approach in the fight against corruption and financial crimes.
She explained that sensitisation and education are key tools in reducing exposure to corruption-related activities.
Also speaking, Deputy Superintendent of the EFCC, DSE James Hosea, educated the students on enforcement, investigation, and preventive measures against cybercrime and financial fraud. He advised them to protect personal information, use strong passwords, avoid sharing bank details with strangers, and report suspicious transactions.

DSE Audu Dodo of the Legal and Prosecution Department also encouraged students to steer clear of corruption and financial crimes, urging them to focus on building a future rooted in discipline and integrity.
The programme featured a guided tour of the EFCC facilities, including the forensic laboratory and holding areas, as part of efforts to deepen public understanding of the Commission’s operations.
