Gulf stock markets recorded gains on Thursday, with Dubai leading regional advances as stronger economic indicators from the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia improved investor sentiment despite concerns over renewed tensions between the United States and Iran.
Dubai’s main stock index rose by 1%, supported by broad-based gains across several sectors. Shares of major companies, including real estate developer Emaar Properties and Dubai’s largest lender Emirates NBD, recorded increases during early trading.
Abu Dhabi’s benchmark index also moved higher, gaining 0.3%, driven by positive performances in real estate and basic materials stocks. Aldar Properties and Alpha Dhabi Holding were among companies that contributed to the market’s rise.

In Saudi Arabia, the benchmark index advanced 0.3%, supported by gains in financial, utilities and materials sectors. Saudi Arabian Mining and Saudi National Bank recorded positive movements during trading.
The market gains came after economic reports showed improved activity in the region’s non-oil sectors. The UAE’s non-oil private sector expanded in August at its fastest pace since December 2024, helped by stronger output and increased new business activity.
Saudi Arabia also reported faster growth in its non-oil private sector, with business activity recovering and output increasing during August.
Qatar’s benchmark index rose 0.3%, supported by gains in Qatar National Bank, the Middle East’s largest bank by assets, while Gulf International Services also recorded an increase.
The positive market performance came despite investor concerns over renewed clashes between the United States and Iran, which have raised concerns about possible effects on regional stability and energy markets.

Meanwhile, shipping data showed that liquefied natural gas cargoes loaded in Qatar and the UAE have recently been transferred between vessels outside the Strait of Hormuz for delivery to India and Japan.
Analysts said stronger economic activity and improved business conditions in Gulf economies helped offset geopolitical concerns and supported investor confidence across regional markets.
