Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has advised Bimbo Adekanbi, the governorship candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM), to focus on building her own political identity rather than adopting his political rivals if she assumes office in 2027.

Makinde advised the party’s presidential and governorship primary activities, where he urged the candidate to prioritise governance, continuity of development, and service delivery.

He noted that leadership is imperfect and that public office holders will inevitably make mistakes.

“Don’t inherit my enemies, chart your own path. I am only human and I make mistakes,” he said.

The governor encouraged Adekanbi to build on the achievements of his administration while also improving outcomes for residents of the state.

“Make sure you build on anything we have done to help our people,” he added.

Makinde also referenced his administration’s development agenda under the “Omituntun” framework, expressing optimism about continued progress in the state.

He described his first and second terms as “Omituntun 1.0” and “Omituntun 2.0,” while hinting at a continued development trajectory ahead of the 2027 political cycle.
