The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa, has announced a new strategic collaboration between the Ministries of Defence and Finance aimed at strengthening national security and economic stability.

Musa disclosed this after a meeting with the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Prof. Taiwo Oyedele, at the Ministry of Finance in Abuja on Tuesday.

According to the Defence Minister, the meeting focused on aligning the mandates of both ministries to ensure greater coordination between national security operations and fiscal policy management.

He noted that both ministries agreed that economic growth and investor confidence can only thrive in a stable and secure environment, while military effectiveness equally depends on a sustainable financial structure.

“Our discussions were focused on establishing a functional convergence between national security and fiscal policy,” Musa stated.

“We recognise that a robust economic architecture cannot exist without absolute stability, just as sustained military operational readiness requires a predictable financial foundation,” he added.

The Defence Minister said the collaboration would ensure that future operational strategies are directly integrated with national economic planning to promote market stability, economic confidence, and national development.

“To this end, we have engineered a purposeful synergy between the Defence and Finance Ministries,” he said.

“Moving forward, our operational strategies will integrate directly with economic planning to ensure that security interventions serve as active catalysts for economic confidence, market stability, and national development.”

Musa described the partnership as a transition toward “unified governance,” stressing that both sectors would now operate in closer coordination to address national challenges.

He also congratulated Prof. Oyedele on his appointment and wished him success in managing the country’s economic affairs.

The development comes amid ongoing efforts by the Federal Government to strengthen coordination among key sectors in addressing Nigeria’s economic and security challenges.
