Chelsea are reportedly reconsidering a move for Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez after intermediaries offered the Argentina international to the club.

The Blues are understood to be discussing the potential transfer with the relevant parties as they assess whether to make a late move before the summer transfer window closes next week.

Martinez is reportedly open to leaving Aston Villa, particularly following the club’s signing of Zion Suzuki as their new first-choice goalkeeper.

However, Chelsea had previously ruled out a move for the 33-year-old, even after his proposed transfer to Juventus collapsed.

Enzo Maresca’s side currently have Robert Sanchez and Mike Penders as their goalkeeping options, which had initially made the club reluctant to pursue Martinez.

Martinez was left out of Aston Villa’s squad for their Premier League defeat to Brighton last weekend.

The Argentine goalkeeper impressed during the 2026 FIFA World Cup and could now be involved in a late transfer decision before the window closes.
