The senator representing Borno South, Senator Ali Ndume, has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s administration, saying the President is surrounded by officials who lack the competence to effectively manage his government.
Ndume made the remarks during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Wednesday, following the discovery of alleged fake agencies operating within the Presidency.
The lawmaker said the continued presence of what he described as “incapable” officials was responsible for repeated controversies and embarrassment affecting the administration.
He specifically referred to the discovery of the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), following an investigation linked to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.
Ndume accused the administration of allowing what he termed “kakistocrats” people he considers unfit to govern to occupy influential positions within the Presidency.
He warned that unless Tinubu takes decisive action, similar controversies would continue.
According to Ndume, investigations by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) uncovered additional irregularities, including issues involving some Permanent Secretaries, some of whom were subsequently suspended.
He urged the President to take stronger measures to address the problems, arguing that competent personnel would help prevent such controversies and improve the administration’s performance.
