Super Eagles head coach, Éric Chelle has announced separate squads for Nigeria’s upcoming Unity Cup campaign and international friendly matches against Poland and Portugal.

The squad selection features a blend of home-based talents and established foreign-based stars as the Nigerian national team prepares for a busy international schedule.

Nigeria is set to begin its Unity Cup campaign with a semi-final clash against Zimbabwe next Tuesday, while the friendlies against Poland and Portugal are expected to take place in June.

For the Unity Cup, Chelle included several players from the Nigeria Professional Football League alongside experienced internationals, suggesting a move to broaden the pool of players available to the national team.

Among the goalkeepers selected are Francis Uzoho of Omonia FC, Arthur Okonkwo of Wrexham and Michael Atata of Ikorodu City.

The defensive unit includes Bruno Onyemaechi, Emmanuel Fernandez, Igoh Ogbu and several domestic league players, while the midfield will be led by experienced names such as Wilfred Ndidi and Raphael Onyedika alongside younger prospects.

The attack for the Unity Cup includes Moses Simon, Akor Adams, Terem Moffi and other emerging talents.

For the international friendlies against Poland and Portugal, Chelle opted for a stronger and more experienced lineup featuring many regular members of the national team.

The squad includes goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, defenders Calvin Bassey and Bright Osayi-Samuel, while the midfield will feature Alex Iwobi, Frank Onyeka and Wilfred Ndidi.

In attack, Nigeria will rely on a formidable frontline including reigning African Footballer of the Year Ademola Lookman, Victor Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon and Terem Moffi.

The inclusion of several top European-based stars highlights the significance attached to the friendlies as the Super Eagles continue preparations for future competitive fixtures.
