Former Minister of Transportation and presidential aspirant, Rotimi Amaechi, has arrived at the venue for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential screening in Abuja as preparations for the party’s 2027 election process continue.
Amaechi arrived at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel on Wednesday accompanied by close associates and supporters, appearing in traditional Niger Delta attire as he prepared to undergo the screening exercise.
The former Rivers State governor recently formally declared his intention to contest for Nigeria’s presidency in the 2027 general election under the platform of the ADC.
His declaration came after he submitted his presidential nomination forms at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja last week.
Speaking at the time of submitting his forms, Amaechi made it clear that his decision to enter the race was driven by his ambition to lead the country and not for any supporting role within a presidential ticket.
He emphasized that he purchased the nomination forms with the objective of contesting for the nation’s highest office rather than seeking a vice-presidential position.
Amaechi, who has previously served as Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Governor of Rivers State, and Minister of Transportation, is among the prominent political figures positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 elections.
