A suspected bandit leader, Kachalla Mu’azu, and six members of his gang have reportedly been killed following a confrontation between rival armed groups in Zamfara State.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, around Mada community in Gusau Local Government Area.
Security analyst and counter-terrorism expert Zagazola Makama disclosed the development in a statement shared on his X account.
According to Makama, Mu’azu and his associates were returning from Yankara Market when they were reportedly intercepted by members of a rival armed group.

He said the confrontation resulted in the deaths of the suspected bandit commander and six of his associates.
Mu’azu was described as a prominent figure among armed groups allegedly responsible for criminal activities and attacks on communities in Gusau and other parts of Zamfara State, as well as neighbouring Katsina State.
The reported killing comes amid continuing security challenges involving armed groups operating across parts of Nigeria’s North-West.
Makama noted that Mu’azu’s death could affect the activities of armed groups operating around the Gusau axis, although the immediate implications for security in the area remain uncertain.
Mada is situated in the eastern part of Gusau Local Government Area, approximately 32 kilometres from Gusau town, while Yankara lies along the Gusau–Funtua corridor.

The circumstances surrounding the confrontation, including the identities of the rival group involved, have not been independently established.
Security agencies are expected to assess the reported incident and monitor developments in the affected communities.
As of the time of this report, there had been no official confirmation from the Zamfara State Police Command or the military regarding the reported deaths.
