The Brothers Across Nigeria (BAN) International has strongly denied any involvement in a reported political dispute in Surulere, Lagos, describing a circulating publication linking the group to local political actors as “false, mischievous, and sponsored.”
In a press statement issued on Monday by its Publicity Secretary, Bassey Etienam Esq., the organization distanced itself from allegations that it is connected to a politician or to an ongoing rivalry between two aspirants for the Lagos State House of Assembly.
BAN emphasized that it has no affiliation with any of the individuals mentioned in the report and does not engage in partisan politics. “We do not sponsor, direct, or support the political ambitions of any individual,” the statement read.

The group reiterated its identity as a law-abiding, socially responsible confraternity built on discipline, excellence, and service, condemning any attempt to associate it with political violence or unrest.
Rejecting suggestions of inter-group rivalry, BAN stated that it does not engage in street conflicts and remains committed to peace, order, and respect for the rule of law. It further warned that the publication could incite unrest in Surulere, a community it said has been relatively peaceful.
Calling for accountability, the organization urged the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and other security agencies to investigate the origin of the publication and bring those responsible to justice.
BAN also expressed condolences to the family of a young man reportedly killed in a recent incident, describing the loss as tragic, extending sympathies to his loved ones.
The group appealed to the public, media, and political actors to disregard what it termed a false narrative, insisting it would not be used as a vehicle for misinformation, political thuggery, or violence.
It also urged media platforms and individuals circulating the claims to desist from spreading content capable of inciting tension.

“BAN Int’l stands firmly for peace in Surulere and across Nigeria,” the statement concluded, reaffirming its commitment to humanitarian service, intellectual development, and nation-building.
