Nigerian media personality and content creator, Amarachi Amusi, widely known as Ashmusy, has said she is not in a hurry to get married, despite being 30 years old.

She disclosed that she has taken steps to secure her future motherhood by freezing her eggs, a decision she says has given her emotional reassurance and reduced pressure around marriage and childbirth.

Speaking on a recent episode of the Echo Room podcast, Ashmusy explained that she previously came close to marrying someone she did not consider her ideal partner, driven by societal pressure and concerns about fertility timelines.

“I want to get married, but I am not desperate. Just in case the right suitor doesn’t come, I am already safeguarded. I am already sure of being a mom by God’s grace,” she said.

She added that the fear of the so-called “biological clock” often pushes some women into rushed decisions. According to her, this pressure can lead to entering unsuitable relationships.

“Honestly, most women who rush into marriage early do so because of the myth of the biological clock… With that rush, you now end up getting into the wrong marriage. I almost did,” she said.

Ashmusy further revealed that she now feels more confident about her future plans for motherhood, noting that with her eggs frozen, she has the option of assisted reproduction in the coming years if needed.

“But I don’t have to go through that again because I have frozen my eggs. In the next 3–10 years, I can confidently go for insemination and have my mixed kid,” she added.
