A businessman, Abibu Yakubu, has approached the Upper Area Court 1, Karu, Nasarawa State, seeking legal intervention over an alleged dispute with his former wife, Shuwadatu Mohammed, whom he claims has refused to vacate his residence following their divorce.
Yakubu, who resides at Orange Market, Mararaba, Karu Local Government Area, filed the petition on October 13, 2025, alleging that the respondent, his estranged wife, continues to live in the same house despite the dissolution of their marriage about five years ago.
In his statement before the court, Yakubu also accused his ex-wife of failing to show respect to him and his parents, alleging that she frequently insults them and has remained hostile in their interactions.

He further told the court that the marriage produced four children—aged 22, 19, and six-year-old twins—and is seeking custody of all the children.
The petitioner alleged that his ex-wife has repeatedly insisted she would not leave the home until she “kills him,” claiming that he no longer feels safe in the house and is unable to sleep peacefully.
Yakubu therefore urged the court to hold the respondent responsible should any harm befall him, and also requested a formal dissolution of the marriage alongside custody of the children.
Presiding Judge, Mohammed Yakubu, after listening to the submissions, adjourned the case to June 3 for further hearing.
