An Arizona woman was arrested after allegedly driving at more than 100 miles per hour in an attempt to get home in time to watch the popular reality television show Love Island, authorities have said.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol, the motorist was stopped on June 9 while travelling along State Route 347 in Pinal County. Officers recorded her speed at 108 mph in an area with a posted speed limit of 65 mph.
During the traffic stop, the driver reportedly told officers she was hurrying home so she would not miss an episode of the reality dating programme.

The highway patrol said the woman was arrested on charges of criminal speeding and reckless driving. Her vehicle was also impounded for 20 days.
Authorities shared details of the incident as a reminder to motorists about the dangers of excessive speeding and reckless behaviour on the roads.
Love Island, which airs six nights a week on the streaming platform Peacock, follows a group of contestants living together in a tropical villa while competing for a cash prize. Viewers participate by voting for their favourite couples and contestants throughout the season.

The programme has developed a large following in the United States, but officials stressed that no television show is worth risking lives on the road.
No injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
