The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released the final list of aspirants cleared to participate in the Rivers State House of Assembly primary election scheduled to hold on Wednesday, 20 May, 2026 ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to information released by the party, a total of 36 aspirants, including the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Dumle Maol, and House Leader Major Jack, were approved to contest for positions in the 32-member legislature.

The Rivers State Publicity Secretary of the APC, Chibike Ikenga, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Tuesday, noting that the list originated from the party’s National Secretariat.
Ikenga urged all aspirants to verify their status by checking the official list displayed at the party’s state secretariat in Port Harcourt.
According to the statement, the information was specifically directed at aspirants who may need to confirm their names and details ahead of the primary exercise.
The notice indicated that the list had been displayed at the APC state secretariat located at No. 268B Port Harcourt/Aba Express Road, Port Harcourt.

The party further clarified that the release formed part of preparations for the House of Assembly primaries and emphasised that the approved list was issued by the APC national leadership.
The primary election is expected to determine the party’s candidates for the various constituencies ahead of the next electoral process in Rivers State.
