The Akwa Ibom State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has expressed appreciation to party stakeholders and members for what it described as the successful and peaceful conduct of the House of Representatives primaries held across the state.

In a statement issued on Sunday 17th May by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Chief Patrick Edeke, the APC said the primaries, conducted across electoral wards in Akwa Ibom State on May 16, reflected the party’s commitment to internal democracy and unity ahead of forthcoming elections.

The party specifically commended Governor Umo Eno, described as the leader of the party in the state, for what it called exemplary leadership, political maturity and commitment to ensuring a transparent and rancour-free exercise.

The APC also praised the State Chairman of the party, Stephen Ntukekpo, for his efforts in strengthening unity and stability within the party structure in the state.

According to the statement, the Local Organising Committee chaired by Prince Enobong Uwah was instrumental in coordinating the exercise and ensuring that eligible party members participated without disenfranchisement.

The party further acknowledged the contributions of local government party chairmen led by ALGON Chairman, Dr. Uwemedimo E. Udo, as well as chapter and ward chairmen across the state for their grassroots mobilisation and coordination during the primaries.

The APC equally commended delegates, supporters and party faithfuls for participating actively in the democratic process despite personal and professional commitments.

Reaffirming its commitment to inclusiveness and internal democracy, the party stated that it would continue to work towards unity and stronger electoral victories in future elections.

The statement added that the successful conduct of the primaries demonstrated the readiness of the APC in Akwa Ibom State to consolidate its political structure ahead of the next electoral cycle.
