Former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future being bright and steady after hosting Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential hopeful Peter Obi at his residence in Abuja.

The meeting came shortly after Obi completed his screening process ahead of the party’s presidential primary election.

Kwankwaso disclosed details of the visit in a statement shared on his official X account on Wednesday, describing Obi’s visit as cordial and expressing confidence about what lies ahead.

“Last night, I received a courtesy visit from my brother, His Excellency Peter Obi, shortly after his successful screening as the presidential aspirant of our party, the NDC,” Kwankwaso stated. “The future is bright and full of promise,” he added.

The visit has drawn political attention as conversations around alliances and political strategies continue to intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Obi recently secured clearance from the NDC leadership to participate in the party’s presidential primary race after undergoing screening in Abuja.

The screening exercise was conducted by a committee headed by former Ebonyi State Governor Sam Egwu, which approved Obi’s candidacy on Tuesday.

Although details of discussions between both political figures were not disclosed, the meeting is expected to generate further speculation regarding political alignments and developments within the opposition landscape ahead of the next election cycle.
