AKWA IBOM SPEAKER SECURES ENDORSEMENT FROM ABAK CLANS AHEAD OF 2027 ELECTIONS

The Speaker of Akwa Ibom State of Assembly, and representative of Abak State Constituency, Udeme Otong, has received unanimous endorsements from political stakeholders in the Otoro and Ediene clans of Abak Local Government Area as consultations intensify ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 elections.

The endorsements came during separate meetings held on Thursday as the Amazing Grace Organisation, Otong’s political support group, continued its consultation tour across communities in Akwa Ibom State.

In the Otoro Clan, the delegation was hosted by former state lawmaker Rt. Hon. Friday Iwok was welcomed by local leaders of the All Progressives Congress, youth and women’s groups, and other stakeholders.

Following deliberations, community leaders adopted Otong as their preferred candidate for the Abak State Constituency seat in the next election cycle, citing his legislative performance, political accessibility, and efforts in facilitating appointments and development projects for constituents.

Stakeholders also pledged to mobilise support across the clan’s political wards while urging the Speaker to work with Governor Umo Eno to accelerate completion of the Atai Otoro–Ibiakpan Road project.

Responding, Otong promised continued constituency development and said the road project had already been identified by the state government for completion.

The consultation tour later moved to Ediene Clan, where the Speaker and members of the Amazing Grace Organisation met with political leaders and residents at the residence of former Abak Council Chairman Joseph Ikpaisong.

Addressing supporters, Otong highlighted infrastructure and community projects facilitated through his office, including work on the Ediene–Etinan Road. He also called for political support for President Bola Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Governor Eno in the next electoral cycle.

Community leaders in Ediene pledged support for Otong’s re-election bid and vowed to deliver votes for the ruling party’s candidates at both state and national levels.

Earlier, the Speaker visited the palace of the Paramount Ruler of Abak Local Government Area, His Royal Majesty Akuku Sylvester Udofia, Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Traditional Rulers Council, as well as the palace of the Clan Head of Ediene, His Royal Highness Edidem Sunday Umoh. The traditional rulers offered prayers and royal blessings for Otong and other political leaders ahead of the 2027 elections.

Several prominent political figures attended the consultations, including local government officials, former lawmakers, commissioners, and party stakeholders from across Abak Local Government Area.
