The Akwa Ibom State Government has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the Federal Government’s Social Safety Net Programme, which is providing financial support to 56,402 beneficiaries across the state’s 31 local government areas.
Speaking during the debit card distribution in Ika Local Government Area, the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Princess Emem Ibanga, said beneficiaries are receiving ₦75,000 each, paid as ₦25,000 monthly for three months, to support their livelihoods.
The Commissioner also announced that the state government is set to commence the disbursement of ₦31 billion to women’s cooperatives across the 31 local government areas as part of Governor Umo Eno’s women empowerment and poverty reduction programme.
She added that the Federal Government’s intervention complements the state government’s humanitarian initiatives, which she said have reached over 650,000 households through food distribution and other support programmes.
