Akwa Ibom State Electricity Regulatory Commission, AKSERC, has held a strategic meeting with the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, to advance the development of the state’s electricity market.
The engagement, held in Abuja, focused on preparations for Akwa Ibom to assume regulatory oversight of its intrastate electricity market under the Electricity Act, 2023, and the Akwa Ibom State Electricity Law.
NERC Chairman, Dr Musiliu Oseni, commended AKSERC’s proactive approach and pledged the Commission’s support through technical assistance, data sharing and sustained collaboration.
AKSERC said the partnership would help establish a transparent, consumer-centred and investment-friendly electricity market aimed at delivering reliable and sustainable power to the people of Akwa Ibom State.
