Former President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Rollas, has publicly apologised to Nollywood actress Regina Daniels and her mother, Rita Daniels, over comments he made during the controversy surrounding the actress’s marriage to Senator Ned Nwoko.
Rollas acknowledged that his remarks, made amid reports of marital difficulties between Regina and her husband in 2025, were poorly timed and could have been handled more appropriately.
The controversy began after Rollas publicly expressed concerns about Regina’s well-being and criticised her mother, suggesting that she should concentrate on her daughter’s welfare rather than her reported ambition to lead the Actors Guild of Nigeria.
His comments attracted criticism from Regina, who accused him of disrespecting her family.
The disagreement subsequently developed into a wider controversy involving allegations and counter-allegations concerning the guild’s leadership and claims about financial support allegedly provided by Nwoko.
In an apology published on Instagram, Rollas said he had reconsidered his conduct following a recent encounter with Rita Daniels during efforts by third parties to reconcile them.
He admitted that his response to the family’s difficulties had fallen short of the judgment expected of someone in a leadership position.
“I am human. I made a mistake. I have reflected. And today, I say sincerely: I am sorry,” he stated.
Rollas explained that his decision to apologise was not dependent on whether Regina or her mother would accept it, but reflected his personal assessment of how he handled the controversy.
He acknowledged that his comments had contributed to tensions at an already difficult time for the family.
The former AGN president also reflected on the responsibilities of leadership, saying public figures must recognise when their actions or statements require correction.
Although he maintained that he still held certain views concerning the original dispute, Rollas accepted responsibility for the timing and manner of his intervention.
However, Regina Daniels responded by questioning the sincerity of his apology.
The actress also levelled allegations of ingratitude and financial misconduct against the former guild president.
Those allegations remain claims made by Regina, and no independent findings establishing financial wrongdoing were provided in the account.
The latest exchange indicates that the disagreement has not been fully resolved, despite Rollas’s public expression of regret.
It remains unclear whether Regina and her mother will accept the apology or whether further reconciliation efforts will take place.
