Nigeria’s Super Eagles have touched down in Marrakesh ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) quarter-final clash with Algeria on Saturday.

The encounter promises to be a stern test for the three-time continental champions as they aim to maintain their winning momentum and keep alive hopes of lifting a fourth AFCON title.

In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by photojournalist Sulaimon Adebayo, also known as Pooja, the Super Eagles were seen being warmly welcomed by the people of Marrakesh on Thursday.

The team booked their place in the last eight with a commanding 4–0 victory over Mozambique in Fès, extending their perfect run in the tournament.

With that dominant display, Nigeria now eyes a semifinal berth, but Saturday’s high-stakes clash promises a tougher challenge.

The build-up to the quarter-final had been overshadowed by reports of players’ unrest over unpaid bonuses, with some allegedly threatening to boycott training or travel.

However, the National Sports Commission has confirmed all outstanding allowances and match bonuses have now been approved and are being disbursed, clearing a major hurdle for the squad.

With financial concerns addressed, the Super Eagles can now focus entirely on their task in Morocco, as they seek to continue their impressive AFCON campaign.
