A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, has claimed that President Bola Tinubu is attracting support from politicians across opposition parties ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Kwankwaso, who serves as Director of Finance at the Hadejia-Jama’are River Basin Development Authority, expressed confidence in Tinubu’s re-election prospects, citing what he described as increasing cooperation among politicians from different political backgrounds.
Speaking on Thursday about the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, he said the event demonstrated growing political support for the president.

He claimed that politicians associated with the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Labour Party (LP), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Accord Party were showing interest in Tinubu’s re-election campaign.
According to him, the participation of individuals from different political groups suggested that the president was building alliances beyond the APC.
Kwankwaso described the development as unusual, arguing that Tinubu had succeeded in bringing together politicians who previously held opposing political positions.
He maintained that such cooperation could strengthen the ruling party’s campaign ahead of the next general election.
However, his claims about the scale of opposition involvement did not establish that the parties themselves had formally endorsed Tinubu or entered into an electoral alliance with the APC.
The APC chieftain also defended the administration’s economic policies, arguing that Tinubu should be allowed to continue implementing his reforms despite the financial difficulties facing many Nigerians.
He referred to comments attributed to Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo and other political figures, suggesting that their assessments reflected an understanding of the country’s economic challenges.
Kwankwaso maintained that the 2027 presidential election would have implications for the direction of Nigeria’s economic policies and development programmes.

Turning to Kano State politics, he expressed optimism that influential political figures would eventually work together in support of Tinubu’s re-election bid.
He also predicted that the anticipated political cooperation would benefit Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and his deputy, Murtala Sule Garo, in their bid for another term.
The comments represent Kwankwaso’s assessment of the emerging political landscape rather than confirmed commitments by the opposition parties or politicians mentioned.
The outcome of the 2027 presidential election will ultimately be determined by voters, with political parties expected to present their candidates and programmes during the electoral process.
