President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged young people in Rivers State to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate actively in the 2027 general elections.

Tinubu appealed on Saturday during the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign rally at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.

Addressing party supporters, the President described the PVC as an important instrument of democratic participation, urging youths to recognise their role in determining the country’s political future.

He also solicited the support of Rivers residents for his re-election, acknowledging the backing he received from political stakeholders in the state during the previous presidential election.

Tinubu commended Rivers indigenes serving in his administration, particularly the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for their contributions.

The President also praised Governor Siminalayi Fubara for his role in maintaining peace in Rivers State following periods of political tension.

Speaking earlier, Wike described Tinubu as a political ally of Rivers State and argued that the President’s administration had demonstrated its commitment through infrastructure projects and federal appointments.

He cited the Bodo-Bonny Road project as an example of federal infrastructure investment benefiting the state.

The FCT Minister also claimed that more than 47 Rivers indigenes had received appointments under Tinubu’s administration.

Wike urged residents to support the President’s second-term ambition, maintaining that the state had benefited from its relationship with the Federal Government.

Governor Fubara, who also addressed the gathering, expressed appreciation for Tinubu’s intervention during Rivers State’s political crisis.

He pledged to mobilise support for the President ahead of the January 2027 presidential election.

In his remarks, APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, endorsed the Tinubu-Shettima ticket, describing the President as a courageous leader.

Yilwatda argued that the administration had confronted difficult political and economic challenges and called on party supporters to sustain their mobilisation efforts.

The Port Harcourt rally formed part of the APC’s nationwide presidential campaign programme ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Tinubu’s visit followed his campaign engagement in Akwa Ibom State on Friday, November 6, as the ruling party continued efforts to strengthen its electoral presence across the South-South region.
