Some leaders of the All Progressives Congress have petitioned the party’s National Working Committee, seeking disciplinary action against former Benue State APC Chairman, Austin Agada, over alleged anti-party activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The petitioners, operating under the APC Solidarity Group, accused Agada of supporting the Nyesom Wike-backed Rainbow Coalition and allegedly promoting candidates of other political parties despite remaining a member of the APC.
The petition, dated October 2, 2026, was signed by the group’s National Organising Secretary, Alhaji Sa’idu Muhammad, and submitted to the NWC through the office of the APC National Chairman.

The group asked the party leadership to constitute an investigative committee, invite Agada to respond to the allegations and impose appropriate disciplinary measures if he is found to have violated the APC Constitution.
Central to the petition is an allegation that Agada supported Senator Abba Moro of the Peoples Democratic Party ahead of the 2027 Benue South senatorial election.
The petitioners also alleged that campaign materials bearing the images of President Bola Tinubu and Moro were produced as part of efforts to mobilise support for the two politicians.
They further cited comments attributed to Agada during a television interview on September 28, alleging that the former state chairman said he had no reason to campaign for Governor Hyacinth Alia’s re-election.
The group argued that such a position, if established, would conflict with the APC’s efforts to mobilise support for candidates contesting on the party’s platform.
Agada was also accused of participating in the Benue Strategic Alliance for Tinubu 2027, a cross-party political arrangement involving stakeholders from the APC and opposition parties.
The alliance has publicly described itself as a platform bringing together political stakeholders across party lines to mobilise support for Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
The petitioners maintained that supporting Tinubu was consistent with the APC’s interests but argued that such an arrangement should not involve campaigning against other candidates officially presented by the ruling party.
They therefore asked the NWC to examine Agada’s alleged conduct under Article 21 of the APC Constitution and determine whether it constituted an anti-party offence.
The group said Agada’s previous position as state chairman made the allegations particularly important because of his familiarity with the party’s rules, structures and disciplinary requirements.

It warned that unresolved internal divisions could undermine the APC’s cohesion in Benue ahead of the 2027 elections.
The petitioners maintained that party discipline should apply irrespective of the status or political influence of individual members and urged the NWC to investigate the allegations before reaching a decision.
As of the filing of the petition, the allegations remained claims by the petitioners and had not been established through the disciplinary process requested from the APC leadership.
