Dan-Morgan Ihomun, a senior official of the Benue Strategic Alliance for Tinubu 2027, has alleged that Governor Hyacinth Alia prevented the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, from meeting him at the Benue State Government House.
Ihomun made the allegation during an interview with News Central Television while discussing the lingering leadership crisis within the Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to him, the alleged incident occurred before the party’s recent primary elections, when Akume reportedly visited the Government House to initiate reconciliation talks between rival political factions.

Ihomun claimed that the SGF intended to engage the governor on measures to restore unity and strengthen cooperation among party stakeholders ahead of the 2027 general election.
However, he alleged that security personnel prevented Akume from gaining access to the governor.
The political official accused Alia of frustrating reconciliation efforts despite interventions aimed at resolving the disagreements within the state chapter of the ruling party.
His allegation comes amid continuing tensions between political groups associated with the governor and those loyal to Akume.
The disagreement has centred on party leadership, candidate selection, political consultations and the organisation of campaign activities ahead of the 2027 elections.
The divisions recently became more pronounced following the announcement of a joint campaign council for President Bola Tinubu and Governor Alia.
The Benue Strategic Alliance for Tinubu 2027 subsequently rejected the arrangement, alleging that some of its members and political leaders had been included without their consent.
The group also questioned the decision to list Akume as an ordinary member of the campaign council while assigning the chairmanship to Alia.
Despite the disagreement, the alliance maintained that it remained committed to supporting President Tinubu’s re-election campaign.
The rival political camps have also pursued separate mobilisation activities, reflecting the continuing difficulties in achieving a unified party structure in the state.

Ihomun’s latest allegation has raised further questions about the effectiveness of previous reconciliation efforts.
However, the circumstances surrounding Akume’s alleged visit to the Government House have not been independently established.
There has also been no verified public response from Governor Alia or the Benue State Government specifically addressing the allegation.
The dispute remains part of the broader political disagreements within the Benue APC as preparations continue for the 2027 general election.
