The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two suspects and recovered 11 iPhones and an HP laptop after foiling a robbery operation at a student hostel in the Eruku/Agbon area of Ewekoro Local Government Area.

The suspects, identified as Waris Dauda and Tiamiyu Abiodun, were arrested in the early hours of Sunday, September 13, 2026, following a distress call reporting an armed robbery at the hostel.

According to the command’s spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, operatives of the Ewekoro Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, responded to the incident at about 2:40am.

The police said the suspected robbers abandoned a school bag containing some of their loot and attempted to flee after sighting the approaching officers.

“However, the team pursued and successfully apprehended two suspects,” the command said.

A search of the abandoned bag reportedly yielded 11 assorted iPhones, an HP laptop and several items of clothing.

The police said some of the victims had already identified the recovered property as belonging to them.

Preliminary investigations also indicated that the gang allegedly forced one of the victims to transfer N200,000 to an account during the robbery.

According to the command, detectives visited the scene, documented evidence of forced entry and secured the recovered items as exhibits.

The police added that searches conducted at the residences of the two suspects did not produce any additional incriminating items.

The suspects and recovered exhibits are being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, for further investigation.
