President Bola Tinubu has ordered the immediate arrest of George Buchi Nwabueze and the suspension of three permanent secretaries following the discovery of another fake agency operating within the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
The suspended permanent secretaries are M.S. Danjuma, Nadungu Gagare and Richard P. Pheelangwah.
Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, Dr Musa Aliyu, SAN, disclosed this on Friday after briefing President Tinubu on the development.
Aliyu said the ICPC uncovered an alleged fake agency known as the “National Brands Development and Made-in-Nigeria Special Project Office” during its ongoing investigation into fictitious government agencies.
According to him, the office had been illegally allocated space within the premises of the OSGF without presidential authorisation and in violation of existing regulations.

He said the alleged promoter of the fake agency, Nwabueze, operated under several variations of his name and was suspected to have collaborators within the OSGF.
The ICPC chairman said the commission had engaged the OSGF to obtain relevant information concerning the office and had fully briefed the President on its findings.
Following the briefing, Tinubu directed the immediate arrest of Nwabueze and the suspension of the three permanent secretaries pending further investigation.
The latest discovery follows the exposure of the fictitious Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, whose alleged Director-General, Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew, is facing prosecution over allegations of forgery and impersonation.

An interim ICPC report submitted to the President on August 6 had also revealed two other allegedly fictitious bodies — the FCT Investment Promotion Agency and the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency and Public-Private Partnership.
The National Brands Development and Made-in-Nigeria Special Project Office is now the fourth alleged fake agency uncovered in connection with the ongoing investigation.
The ICPC said investigations into the latest discovery would continue.
