The Police Service Commission (PSC) has formally handed over 50,000 newly recruited Police Constables to the Nigeria Police Force for training.
The handover ceremony took place at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja, marking the commencement of the next phase of the nationwide recruitment exercise.
Representing the Chairman of the Commission, Justice Paul Adamu Galumje (Rtd.), Commissioner I, said the recruitment was conducted in line with the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and relevant statutory provisions.
Justice Galumje commended the President for his support and formally presented the list of successful candidates to the Nigeria Police Force for training at designated Police Colleges and other approved institutions.
Receiving the recruits on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Training and Development, Isyaku Mohammed, described the recruitment process as transparent and assured that training would commence across the country as soon as the necessary funds were released.
Also speaking, the Director of the Police Service Department in the Ministry of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Muhammad, lauded the credibility of the recruitment exercise, while the Secretary to the Police Service Commission, Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, attributed its success to the cooperation of all stakeholders involved.
The Commission said the training is expected to prepare the new constables for effective policing in line with approved professional standards and best practices.
