The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has approved the promotion of 3,592 civil servants following the successful completion of the 2025 promotion exercise conducted by the FCT Civil Service Commission.
The Chairman of the Commission, Emeka Ezeh, announced the development in a statement on Wednesday, describing the approval as part of activities marking the third anniversary of President Bola Tinubu’s administration and a reflection of the FCT Administration’s commitment to staff welfare and career development.
According to the statement, promotion examinations for senior officers were conducted from July 1 to 3, while junior officers sat for their examinations on July 10.
Ezeh commended Wike for providing the necessary support that enabled the commission to successfully conduct the promotion exercise.
He also disclosed that the minister has directed the commission to immediately commence the 2026 promotion exercise to ensure eligible officers are promoted as and when due.
According to him, timely promotions remain a priority under the current administration and are intended to complement the ongoing infrastructure development across the Federal Capital Territory.
“Under this administration, it is a priority that FCT workers get promoted when due. This is to complement the tremendous work that the FCT Minister is doing in infrastructural development of the Territory. For us, the workers will not be left out in the celebrations marking the third anniversary of Mr President,” Ezeh said.
The commission chairman also praised FCT civil servants for their orderly conduct throughout the 2025 promotion exercise and urged officers preparing for the 2026 exercise to maintain the same level of discipline and professionalism.
He further appreciated the Joint Union Action Committee for its cooperation and support, while advising prospective candidates for the 2026 promotion exercise to begin preparations early, noting that promotions in the FCT Civil Service are merit-based, competitive and subject to the availability of vacancies.
