In a major breakthrough against criminal activities in Kogi State, troops of the 12 Brigade Nigerian Army deployed at the Forward Operating Base in Oguma have rescued two kidnapped victims and recovered the ransom money meant for their release.

According to an update from the Army Public Relations Unit, the operation took place on 2 November 2025 after credible intelligence revealed kidnapping activities along the Itobe Adumu Ejule axis. Reports indicated that relatives of some kidnapped victims were preparing to deliver ransom to the abductors. Acting swiftly, the troops launched a patrol into Achigili Forest to intercept the suspects.

On their way to the location, the soldiers came under fire from the criminals but responded with superior firepower, forcing the kidnappers to abandon the two victims and the ransom before escaping into the forest with gunshot wounds.

Following the operation, the troops rescued the victims and recovered the sum of ₦3,800,000, the ransom money intended for payment. The victims were debriefed to aid further investigation, and the recovered cash was returned to them. They are currently in safe custody pending handover to the appropriate authorities.

The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property across the country and urged the public to continue providing credible and timely information to support ongoing efforts to combat crime.
