The Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has paid tribute to fathers across the state and the country, describing unconditional love, sacrifice, and commitment as the defining qualities of fatherhood.
In a goodwill message marking the 2026 Father’s Day celebration, Governor Fubara commended fathers for their vital role in holding families together and strengthening communities through their dedication and resilience.
The governor noted that despite prevailing economic and social challenges, fathers across the 23 Local Government Areas of Rivers State continue to work tirelessly to provide for their families and support societal development.
According to him, Father’s Day serves as a special occasion to recognise and celebrate the quiet sacrifices, love, and responsibilities undertaken by fathers across generations.
Governor Fubara emphasised the importance of responsible fatherhood, stating that strong families remain the foundation of peaceful communities and sustainable development.
“When fathers stand, families stand; when families stand, communities stand; and when communities stand, Rivers State stands,” he said.
He further stressed that responsible parenting helps raise disciplined children who contribute positively to society, promoting peace, harmony, and prosperity across the state.
The governor assured residents that his administration would continue to draw inspiration from the sacrifices and resilience of fathers in its efforts to build a better Rivers State.
Governor Fubara also urged fathers to remain steadfast in their roles as mentors, protectors, and providers, while encouraging families to appreciate and support the contributions of fathers to nation-building.
