The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has recorded breakthroughs in its ongoing campaign against crime, leading to the arrest of suspected armed robbers, the recovery of illegal firearms, and the apprehension of a suspect linked to cultism and other criminal offences.
The Command disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, fsi.
According to the statement, operatives acting on a duly obtained search warrant conducted a search at the residence of Isidore Udousoro, 69, of Ikot Ayankana Village in Abak Local Government Area on June 15, 2026.
The suspect is currently being investigated over allegations bordering on cultism, assault, malicious damage, and threat to life.

During the search, police recovered a locally made pistol and a machete allegedly concealed within the premises.
Udousoro was immediately taken into custody alongside the recovered exhibits, while investigations continue to determine the extent of his involvement in the alleged offences and possible links to other criminal activities.
The police said he would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
In a separate operation, police operatives conducting routine stop-and-search duties around Etinan Circus on June 11, 2026, intercepted and arrested two suspected armed robbers after they allegedly attempted to evade a patrol team.
The suspects were identified as Thankgod Daniel, 21, and Ekom Effiong, 44, both natives of Ukanafun Local Government Area.
Police said the duo were riding an unregistered red-coloured QLINK motorcycle when their suspicious conduct attracted the attention of operatives, prompting a pursuit that led to their arrest.

A search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of a locally made pistol, one live cartridge, and an Android mobile phone.
During interrogation, the suspects allegedly confessed to robbing a male victim of the motorcycle at Afaha Nsit in Nsit Ibom Local Government Area.
They also reportedly admitted to being members of a four-man armed robbery gang, disclosing that three members of the group were armed during the operation.
The Command said efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the remaining members of the gang while investigations continue to uncover other criminal activities linked to the syndicate.
Commending the operatives involved in the operations, Commissioner of Police Baba Mohammed Azare praised their professionalism, vigilance and swift response.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks, combating cult-related activities, curbing the proliferation of illegal firearms and ensuring that perpetrators of crime are brought to justice.
The police also assured residents that intelligence-driven policing, strategic patrols, stop-and-search operations and targeted raids on criminal hideouts would continue across the state.

The Command urged members of the public to remain vigilant and support law enforcement agencies by providing timely and credible information, stressing that community partnership remains vital in the fight against crime.
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command reiterated its resolve to sustain peace, protect lives and property, and maintain law and order throughout the state.
