Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have recorded a major operational success against the Lakurawa terrorist group in Kebbi State, recovering a cache of high-calibre weapons, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and other equipment during a sustained offensive operation.
The operation was conducted on June 14, 2026, around the Dogon Daji general area in Dandi Local Government Area of Kebbi State as part of ongoing efforts to eliminate terrorist and criminal elements operating in the North-West region.
According to a statement issued by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, troops deployed superior firepower against the terrorists, overwhelming them and forcing them to abandon their positions and flee.

The military said troops immediately launched an aggressive pursuit of the fleeing insurgents along their withdrawal routes, leading to the recovery of a significant quantity of weapons, explosives and logistics items abandoned at the terrorists’ camp.
Items recovered during the operation included Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG) launch tubes, several RPG warheads, multiple Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), two motorcycles allegedly used by the terrorists for movement, battery chargers and various personal belongings.
The Army disclosed that all troops involved in the operation returned safely, with no casualties recorded.
The military described the operation as another significant breakthrough in the ongoing campaign against terrorism and banditry across the North-West.
According to the statement, the success demonstrates the determination of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, to dismantle terrorist networks and deny criminal groups the freedom to operate within the region.

The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations against terrorists, bandits and other criminal elements, stressing that security forces will continue to apply pressure on their strongholds and disrupt their activities to protect lives and property.
The Army also assured residents of its resolve to work with other security agencies and local communities to restore lasting peace and security across the region.
