United States President, Donald Trump has expressed optimism that an agreement aimed at ending the conflict with Iran could be finalised as early as Sunday. However, Iranian officials have pushed back against that timeline, indicating that while progress has been made, a formal signing is more likely to take place within the coming days.
Speaking about the ongoing negotiations, Trump stated that the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial global shipping route, would be reopened to unrestricted navigation once the agreement takes effect. He also suggested that Washington expects to gain access to Iran’s nuclear materials as part of the broader settlement.

Meanwhile, tensions remain high beyond Iran’s borders. Reports from southern Lebanon indicate that explosions have continued in the region as Israeli military operations persist. Iran has maintained that any lasting ceasefire arrangement should not be limited to its own conflict but must also address hostilities affecting Lebanon.
In a separate development, Iranian media outlets announced plans for national funeral ceremonies honouring the late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The ceremonies are scheduled to begin in Tehran on July 4, while his burial is expected to take place in the holy city of Mashhad on July 9.
