The Presidency has described the security partnership between Nigeria and the United States as a crucial component of efforts to combat terrorism, banditry and other security threats across the country.

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, stated this on Tuesday during an X Space discussion.

According to Dare, intelligence sharing, security cooperation and joint counter-terrorism operations between both countries remain essential to dismantling insurgent groups and criminal networks operating within Nigeria and the wider region.

He said the administration of Bola Tinubu remains committed to restoring peace nationwide, protecting lives and property, and safeguarding the country’s territorial integrity against both internal and external threats.

Dare noted that the growing security collaboration between Nigeria and the United States reflects a shared commitment to addressing security challenges through coordinated action, intelligence-driven operations and capacity-building initiatives.

He stressed that stronger international cooperation would enhance the effectiveness of efforts aimed at tackling terrorism, insurgency and organised crime.

The presidential aide also expressed concern over the increasing spread of misinformation and fake news on digital platforms, warning that false narratives could undermine national security and erode public confidence.

According to him, the dissemination of unverified information has the potential to fuel social tensions, incite unrest and create unnecessary panic among citizens.

“The deliberate spread of false information can create unnecessary panic, provoke disorder and threaten national cohesion. Nigerians must remain vigilant and avoid becoming tools in the dissemination of content capable of destabilising the country,” Dare said.

He urged citizens to verify information before sharing it and encouraged responsible use of digital platforms in order to promote national unity and support efforts aimed at maintaining peace and security across the country.

Dare reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with international allies while continuing to deploy strategies designed to address Nigeria’s security challenges and ensure lasting stability.
