Governor Seyi Makinde has issued an Executive Order restricting motorcycle operations between 10:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. across Oyo State as part of efforts to address growing security concerns and combat criminal activities.

The governor announced the measure on Friday, stating that the decision forms part of broader strategies aimed at improving security and supporting ongoing efforts to rescue abducted teachers and schoolchildren currently being held by kidnappers.

Makinde acknowledged the anguish experienced by the families of the victims, stressing that every day they remain in captivity is painful for both their loved ones and the state as a whole.

He assured residents that security agencies and government officials are working continuously to secure the safe release of those abducted, describing the situation as one of the administration’s most pressing concerns.

According to the governor, the government may not be able to publicly disclose all operational details because of the sensitive nature of rescue efforts, but significant actions are ongoing behind the scenes.

“The victims have not been forgotten and they have not been abandoned,” he said, urging residents not to interpret the government’s limited public comments as a lack of action.

The restriction on motorcycle operations is expected to support security agencies in monitoring movement during late-night hours, a period often associated with criminal activities in several parts of the state.

Makinde reiterated his administration’s commitment to restoring security and ensuring the safe return of all abducted persons.
