Opposition voices in Akwa Ibom State have issued a critical assessment of Governor Umo Eno’s administration as it marks three years in office on May 29, 2026, raising concerns over infrastructure delivery, political stability, and key state projects.

In a statement issued on Friday, Comrade Ewa Okpo, State Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), described the administration’s performance over its three-year period as “largely unsatisfactory,” alleging inconsistencies in policy direction and project execution.

The statement reviewed the administration in phases, claiming that the first year in office (2023–2024) was marked by what it described as administrative adjustment challenges, while the second year (2024–2025) reportedly witnessed changes in governance structures and delays in several projects.

It further alleged that some government contracts were awarded without adequate funding provisions, resulting in delayed or incomplete project execution, a claim that could not be independently verified at the time of filing this report.

In the third year of the administration, the statement referenced Governor Eno’s political realignment from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing his justification that the move was linked to federal assurances on the Ibom Deep Sea Port project.

The opposition group, however, said there had been limited visible progress on the deep seaport initiative since the announcement of the political switch.

It also alleged that political pressure had been applied on elected and appointed officials to align with the governor’s new party structure, claims which government sources have previously dismissed as politically motivated.

The statement further raised concerns over alleged cases of intimidation of political opponents, as well as reported arrests and legal actions involving individuals perceived to be critical of the administration. These allegations remain unverified by independent security or judicial authorities.
