The Federal Government of Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding cleaner energy infrastructure and deepening gas utilisation across Nigeria, as it commissioned the Rolling Energy High-Capacity Daughter Booster Station in Abuja.

The project was inaugurated on Friday on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo.

Speaking at the event, Ekpo described the facility as a significant milestone in Nigeria’s efforts to strengthen its gas value chain and accelerate the transition to cleaner and more affordable energy under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He commended Rolling Energy Limited for delivering the project in partnership with the Midstream and Downstream Gas Infrastructure Fund (MDGIF), noting that it would enhance the Federal Government’s drive toward a gas-powered economy.

The Minister listed similar private sector-driven projects in Lagos and Owerri, including Ibile Oil and Gas, Portland Energy, and Femadec Energy, saying they demonstrate growing investor confidence in Nigeria’s gas sector.

According to him, the facility will also support the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (Pi-CNG), which promotes the use of CNG as a cleaner and more cost-effective alternative for transportation and industrial energy needs.

“The Federal Government remains committed to creating an enabling environment for continued investments across the gas value chain. Through policy reforms, regulatory support, infrastructure development, and strategic financing mechanisms such as MDGIF, we will continue to support initiatives that expand gas utilisation and unlock the full economic potential of our gas resources,” he said.

Also speaking, the Executive Director of MDGIF, represented by the Deputy Director of Project Management, Dr Huseini Basaka, said the fund would continue to support private sector participation in gas infrastructure through risk-sharing and financing arrangements for high-impact projects.

The Chief Executive Officer of Rolling Energy, Mubarak Danbatta, described the project as a vote of confidence in Nigeria’s gas industry, adding that the company remains committed to supporting government efforts through investment and strategic partnerships.
