National leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has announced the emergence of Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo as the Kano governorship candidate of the New Democratic Congress (NDC) for the forthcoming elections.
Kwankwaso also disclosed that Dr Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna would contest the Kano Central Senatorial seat on the platform of the party.

The former Kano State governor announced on Thursday ahead of the party’s affirmation exercise.
In a statement, Kwankwaso said the selection of the candidates was guided by the principles of equity, fairness, loyalty, and competence.
“This decision was made in the spirit of equity, fairness, loyalty, and competence — values that remain central to our party and Kwankwasiyya’s progress and unity,” he said.
He expressed optimism that the affirmation exercise would be peaceful and successful, while praying for victory for the party in the forthcoming elections.
“As we proceed with today’s affirmation exercise, I pray for a seamless, peaceful, and successful process. May Almighty Allah grant us resounding victory in the forthcoming elections,” Kwankwaso stated.

Gwarzo, a former deputy governor of Kano State, and Gawuna, who previously contested the governorship election in the state, are expected to lead the party’s campaign in the next electoral cycle.
