The Headquarters 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army has warned members of the public against falling victim to recruitment fraudsters following the arrest of a suspected scammer in Taraba State.
The suspect, identified as Felix Yadeh, 51, was apprehended by members of a local vigilante group at Bantaje Village in Wukari Local Government Area and subsequently handed over to troops of the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Wukari.
According to the Army, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly collected ₦3.627 million from unsuspecting individuals under the false claim of securing recruitment slots into the Nigerian Army.
The Army said the suspect confessed during interrogation that he was allegedly instructed by his younger brother to collect the money from victims as purported enlistment fees.

Items reportedly recovered from the suspect include an Infinix Android mobile phone and ₦3,050 cash.
The suspect remains in military custody alongside the recovered exhibits pending further investigation aimed at identifying possible accomplices and determining the full scope of the alleged fraud.
Commander of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Michael Akaliro, commended both the troops and local vigilante members for their vigilance and swift action leading to the arrest.
He reiterated the Brigade’s commitment to combating criminal activities, extortion, and fraudulent practices across Taraba State.
The Army also reminded the public that recruitment into the Nigerian Army is free, transparent, and strictly merit-based, warning citizens not to pay money to anyone claiming to offer recruitment assistance.

Residents were encouraged to report suspicious activities, impersonators, and extortion rackets to security agencies for prompt action.
The Nigerian Army said it remains committed to protecting lives and property and maintaining peace and security within its operational areas.
