Nollywood actor, Joseph Momodu has announced his enlistment into the United States Army, describing the achievement as the fulfilment of a lifelong dream and a tribute to his late father, who served in the Nigeria Police Force.

Momodu announced in a post on his Instagram page on Friday, where he reflected on the challenges of completing the U.S. Army’s Basic Combat Training.

According to the actor, the 10-week programme tested his physical and mental resilience, requiring him to endure fatigue, harsh weather conditions and prolonged isolation.

“There were moments of doubt and times I questioned myself, but I never lost sight of the finish line,” he wrote.

Momodu disclosed that he chose April 12, 2026, to honour the memory of his father, who died 20 years ago, by continuing the family’s tradition of public service.

He said he has now graduated from Basic Combat Training and serves as Specialist (SPC) J.A. Momodu with the 1st Platoon, Charlie Company, 3rd Battalion, 10th Infantry Regiment, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

The actor dedicated the achievement to God, his late father and his family, expressing gratitude for the support he received throughout the enlistment process.

He also thanked his social media manager and the U.S. Army Recruiting Station in Burbank, California, for their encouragement.

“This chapter is written. The next one begins now,” Momodu said.
