The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate for the 2027 Abia State election, Chief Eric Opah, has expressed grief over the killing of Miss Wendy Achumba, a nursing student from Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State, allegedly murdered in Obowo, Imo State.
Opah described the incident as “painful, heartbreaking, and unfortunate,” noting that the death of the young student was a tragedy not only to her family but to society at large.
The deceased, a student of Our Lady of Mercy Nursing School, Obowo, was reportedly killed in her off-campus residence in Obowo, Imo State.

Two suspects currently in police custody allegedly confessed to the crime in a viral video circulating online.
In a statement issued on Monday by his Director of Media and Publicity, Eric Ikwuagwu, the APC governorship candidate said he deeply shared in the grief of the bereaved family.
“He deeply feels the pain and grief of Wendy’s parents and prays that God grants them the strength to bear this painful loss,” the statement read.
Opah also commended the Nigeria Police Force for the arrest of the suspects and urged security agencies to ensure that justice is served.
He called on investigators to thoroughly uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident and prosecute all persons found culpable.
The governorship candidate further appealed to students and residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.
He prayed for the repose of the deceased’s soul and asked God to grant her eternal rest.
