…Set to Face Fortress Ladies in Round of 32
RismadarVoice Reporters, May 24, 2026
Ibom Angels will begin their quest for glory in the women’s category of the 2026 President Federation Cup when they confront Fortress Ladies in the Round of 32 clash scheduled for Monday, May 25, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.
The Akwa Ibom-based side heads into the national competition in strong spirits after emerging state champions with a convincing 2-0 victory over Solo Wonders in the state final.
Fortress Ladies, who will represent Edo State, secured qualification as runners-up after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Edo Queens in their own state final.

For Ibom Angels, the encounter presents another opportunity to push for national success after coming close in previous editions of the competition. The club reached consecutive finals in 2017 and 2018, while also making the semi-finals last year.
The Uyo-based side will now be aiming to go beyond those achievements in pursuit of another major title to add to their 2023/2024 Nigeria Women’s Football League Premiership championship triumph.
Despite a challenging 2025/2026 NWFL Premiership regular season campaign, Ibom Angels managed to preserve their top-flight status in Group A after recording five wins and four draws, finishing ahead of Naija Ratels and Pacesetter Queens.
Fortress Ladies, on the other hand, endured a difficult campaign in Group A2 of the 2024/2025 NWFL Championship and failed to secure promotion to the elite division.
Monday’s fixture between Ibom Angels and Fortress Ladies will be the second of three matches lined up for the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu, with kick-off scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
The day’s action at the venue will begin with a clash between Osklem FC of Rivers State and Nasarawa Amazons at 10:00 a.m.

Another South-East showdown will follow later in the day as Abia Angels take on Ikukuoma Queens at 4:00 p.m.
Elsewhere across the country, Solo Wonders will battle Sunshine Queens in Awka, where another high-profile all-premiership encounter between Pacesetter Queens and Bayelsa Queens is also expected to take place.
Fans in Asaba will witness fixtures involving Ahudiannen Queens against Moje Queens, as well as Fouye Queens versus Esthington FC.
In Benin City, FC Robo Queens will lock horns with Rangers Women, while Heartland Queens face Dragon Fury, Ladies.
Another set of fixtures in Akure will see Delta Queens battle Royal Queens, while Edo Queens confront Ghetto Tigers as the race for this year’s President Federation Cup title intensifies nationwide.
