The Gboko Diocese of the Global Anglican Communion has announced the dismissal of Rev. Amos Aondofa Aondoakaa from the priesthood over allegations of misconduct and actions considered contrary to the doctrine of the church.
In a public notice issued by the Diocesan Communicator and Media Officer, Rev. Canon Jared Fanen Bashi, the Diocese stated that the dismissal and withdrawal of the cleric’s licence took effect from May 6, 2026.
According to the statement, the church declared that Rev. Aondoakaa was no longer recognised as a priest of the Diocese, warned members of the public that any dealings with him after the stated date would not be connected to the Anglican Communion, Gboko Diocese.

The Diocese listed several allegations against the dismissed cleric, including alleged sexual misconduct, threats against church members, fetish practices, doctrinal violations, and conduct capable of causing division within the church.
Among the allegations was an alleged illicit relationship resulting in pregnancy, claims of involvement in practices described by the church as unbiblical, and the alleged use of objects such as “back to sender oil,” anti-witchcraft oil, and spiritual stones during prayer sessions.
The statement also accused the former cleric of engaging in actions that allegedly undermined the unity of the church and defamed the leadership of the Diocese.
The Diocese further alleged incidents of domestic violence involving the cleric’s wife.

Describing the action as “painful but necessary,” the church said the disciplinary measure was taken to uphold the sanctity of the priesthood and maintain adherence to Anglican doctrine and values.
The Diocese called on the dismissed cleric to seek repentance and reconciliation with God.
